The City of Reidsville

As Reidsville’s motto, “Focused on a better tomorrow,” suggests, this largest Rockingham County city is poised for growth.  Conveniently situated near the future I-785 corridor, there is easy access to major markets, mass transit and urban amenities without sacrificing any of its small-town appeal.

Reidsville’s central location puts it within a 40-mile radius of Greensboro, N.C., Winston-Salem, N.C., Martinsville, Va., and Danville, Va.  The city has a large, diversified industrial base, with manufacturers located within and near the city limits.  Reidsville boasts a wide variety of recreational, educational, medical and cultural resources.  It is home to Rockingham Community College, as well as some of the best antique shopping anywhere in the Piedmont Triad.  Several historical sites can be found in Reidsville, such as the former home of Governor David Reid, which now houses the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce offices.

The City of Reidsville operates under a Council-Manager form of government.
The City Council is composed of seven members serving four-year terms: a voting Mayor elected at large; two Council members voted from District A; two Council members voted from District B; and two Council members elected at large. One of the at-large Council members is selected to be Mayor Pro Tem.  Elections are held in October in odd-numbered years.  The Council appoints the City Manager, who serves as the chief administrative officer of the city, implementing all policies, programs and ordinances as adopted by the Council.

The Reidsville Police Department is an organization of 43 sworn officers and nine non-sworn employees led by the Police Chief. The department serves a population of more than 14,483 and a land of nearly 12.8 square miles.
The Reidsville Fire Department operates three stations with a total of 37 Career Personnel and 15 Call Personnel under the direction of the Fire Chief.
The department is comprised of four divisions; Administration, Training & Safety, Fire Rescue Services and Fire Prevention.

The Reidsville Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization that promotes business issues and concerns on behalf of its members for the betterment of the community.
