Business is done with a personal touch in Reidsville. It’s evidenced by the shop owner who knows your name, the waitress who remembers you like your coffee black, and the business people who are willing to go the extra mile for you. Reidsville is a place where a smile and a handshake are still a big part of doing business. Whether shopping at one of the quaint mom and pop shops, or at one of the newer mini-malls, you’ll find that shopping in Reidsville is convenient and pleasant.
DOWNTOWN
From summertime musical presentations performed downtown at lunchtime to the banners that line the streets, there is a special pride among business people in this integral area of Reidsville.
Downtown is especially noted for the three-block area known as Antique Alley. The antique shops and malls are filled with vintage items, antiques and collectables. The unique shopping opportunities along Antique Alley draw visitors to Reidsville. Travel south along Scales Street on the perimeter of the downtown area, and you’ll discover one of Reidsville’s newest business complexes – Midtown Square. On the southern end of Scales Street is Pennrose Mall, home to two major department stores and a variety of small businesses.
FREEWAY DRIVE
In the past decade, the property along Freeway Drive has been a primary site for business and retail development. The area is convenient to many new residential developments, and the opening of a bypass off U.S. 29 has improved accessibility to the Freeway Drive area.
Tasteful mini-malls have sprung up along the roadway that connects Reidsville with another major thoroughfare, N.C 14. The smaller, more intimate shopping complexes house retailers, restaurants and businesses. These areas like Ashcroft Commons, Freeway Crossing, Reid Square and Belmont Square continue to expand and draw new businesses.
Just outside Reidsville, the corridor along N.C. 14 is becoming a growing retail area. It is home to Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse, Food Lion, an ABC store, and a few small businesses. A Wal-Mart Super Center is at the corner of N.C. 14 and North Scales Street. It will bring about 325 new jobs to the county.
